Sandy Strait was awarded a Regional Showcase Award for Excellence during the 2012 State Education Week celebrations. The award recognised our Leap into Learning program and our school wide focus on developing a professional learning community. Congratulations to all members of our school community.
The Sandy Strait Environmental Club, the 'Little Greenies" were proud award winners at the 2012 Mayor's Environmental Awards. This hard group of green thumbs lead by teacher Mrs Chapman, were awarded the Q Mulching Young Environmentalists of the Year.
Sandy Strait State School was selected as a finalist for Education Provider of the Year at the Fraser Coast Business Awards. 
Sandy Strait was successful in its pursuit of an Academic Talent Grant in 2012 to complement and extend our programs to support high achieving students.
Our school was also invited to participate in the Gifted and Talented Booster Programs through the School of Distance Education.
