Sandy Strait State School Wins State Showcase Awards
After winning the Regional Award in May and being shortlisted as one of 3 state finalists in July, Sandy Strait was awarded the 2013 State Showcase Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership at the State Gala Dinner in October.
The State Showcase Awards are the highest accolade Education Queensland can give to its schools.
The award recognised our Leap into Learning Program and the fabulous work of our dedicated staff who are ensuring that each and every day students are making leaps forward in their learning. As part of the prize we were awarded $26,000.00 in professional development grants to further enhance our Teaching and Learning programs.
Sandy Strait State School Awarded an Academic Talent Grant
Sandy Strait was successful in its pursuit of an Academic Talent Grant again in 2013 to complement and extend our programs to support high achieving students.
Our school was also invited to participate in the Gifted and Talented Booster Programs through the School of Distant Education.
Sandy Strait Awarded a $35,000 Grant for Prep Playground Upgrade.
Sandy Strait was successful in its submission for a $35,000.00 Community Benefit Gaming Grant to upgrade its Prep Playground.
The grant will allow us to remove the gravelly fall material and replace this with a modern, solid rubberised surface and artificial turf providing a wonderful, colourful and modern playground for our youngest students.
One Education 1-1 Laptop Program for our Prep Students.
Sandy Strait State School was selected to receive a $32,000.00 grant from the One Education 1-1 Device Program. This program is a Federal Government and corporate Australia initiative.
One Laptop Per Child Australia is a not for profit organisation dedicated to helping children enjoy learning. By making technology an integral part of education it opens up a world of opportunities for countless children.
In 2014 we will have 4 Prep class with 100 1-1 "XO Laptops" to enhance learning.
